The Book At A Glance

Raised off the grid, Ren is finally living her dream of going to college. Fitz has his future all planned out—until Ren turns it upside down. A class project sends them on a life-changing road trip where dreams, secrets, and unexpected love collide.

Book Review

This Rapunzel retelling closely mirrors Tangled in both plot and character development, with plenty of clever Easter eggs that fans of the film will love spotting. From the adventurous road-trip setting to the heartfelt moments of self-discovery, it captures that same sense of magic, freedom, and finding yourself along the way.

While I didn’t enjoy this installment quite as much as the first in the Meant to Be series, I found myself genuinely appreciating the male main character, Fitz. His backstory, emotional growth, and hidden vulnerability made him one of the most compelling parts of the story. The female lead also brought a burst of curiosity and optimism that balanced Fitz’s guarded personality perfectly—her energy added a refreshing, uplifting dynamic that kept the pages turning.

Christina Lauren’s writing shines with their signature blend of humor, heart, and heartfelt emotion. I loved the balance of romance and self-growth, and I’m excited to continue reading more of their novels to see how they keep reimagining beloved tales with such charm and depth.

Shelf To Table

The perfect food pairing for this novel is lemon lavender cupcakes. A sweet nod to Tangled — these golden-yellow cupcakes symbolize Rapunzel’s hair, while the lavender frosting reflects the film’s iconic color palette. Blending bright citrus with soft floral sweetness, the light, fluffy lemon cake and creamy lavender-tinted frosting create a refreshing and elegant treat. With their golden crumb and pastel swirl, they embody joy, creativity, and new beginnings—perfectly whimsical, just like Tangled Up in You.

Book Club Bite

Road trip–style foods like wraps, sandwiches, and fresh fruit would make adorable and fitting book club snacks for discussing this novel. They capture the adventurous, on-the-go spirit of Ren and Fitz’s journey—simple, shareable, and full of fun travel vibes.
